1. Nominations and election process for TEA Board Vice President
The TEA Board Vice President position for has been vacant since October 26, 2016, and the Board can no longer get on without a Vice President. The remainder of the current term is through September 19, 2018. The incoming Vice President would be eligible to run for a second two-year term. In addition to serving as a member of the TEA Board, this position also serves as Chair of the Grievance Committee.
The TEA Nominating Committee, consisting of Alton Gaskill (Wastewater), Mika Kaplan (Transit), Gillian Zacharias (Transit) and Hillary Schafer (Wastewater), are accepting written nominations for the TEA Board Vice President position to complete the current term.
Nomination period will be closed after February 21, 2017. The Nomination Committee will announce the candidates on February 22, 2017.
Ballots will be distributed on March 8, 2017. The vote for Vice President will be held at the Noon meeting on March 15, 2017. Ballots will be counted after the meeting.
If you or someone you know would like to serve as TEA Vice President, please send a written nomination to one of the Nomination Committee members. Thank you for your interest in this position.
2. Parental Leave Benefit extended for TEA WW Staff
Effective January 1, 2017, the 12-week Paid Parental Leave benefit is permanent for those bargaining units that participated in the 2016 pilot. TEA conducted a vote on this issue in January of 2016 for Transit, WW Staff and WW Supervisors. Wastewater Staff voted to participate in the program.
3. Next Monthly Meeting
The next monthly meeting will be held February 15 in the 5th floor in the Harappa-Cloaca conference rooms, Noon-1PM. Please contact TEA Secretary Gillian Zacharias if you have a specific agenda item you'd like to add. Thanks!
4. Certification Pay Documentation Renewals for Wastewater
If you receive certification pay as a benefit of the Wastewater Collective Bargaining Contract, you are responsible for providing the appropriate documentation of your current certification status. Please check to see that your documentation for these payments is current for 2017. Documentation must be delivered by you to Wastewater Division Human Relations (WTD HR), Cindy Burch. WTD HR does not have the administrative ability to provide retroactive payments if you allow the certification pay period to lapse. If you foresee difficulties in providing current documentation, please contact Cindy Burch as soon as possible.
