Contract Bargaining Teams Announced at July MeetingIn accordance with the TEA Bylaws, the Board developed and implemented a selection process that resulted in the following contract bargaining teams presented at the July membership meeting on 7/25:

Contract Bargaining: Ground Rules Meeting and BeyondThe first contract bargaining meeting is set for Thursday, Auguest 9th from 1:30 to 4:30pm. The TEA Master Agreement Team and TEA’s lawyer will attend. Weekly contract negotiations will continue on Thursday, September 13th from 9-12pm.
Annual Meeting Scheduled for September 19thThe TEA ByLaws call for an Annual Meeting every year in September. This year’s event will be held on September 19th, from 11:30 – 1:30 at the Elliott Bay Bookstore Café meeting room. The purpose of the meeting: bylaw modifications, elections, and a Celebration.Anyone interested in helping to plan the event should contact Wyatt Wood.
ElectionsThree Board positions are open for nominations:
Individuals can nominate themselves or someone else who agrees to serve in the position. The nomination process closes on August 28th. Send nominations to Severne Johnson (684-1320, KSC-NR-0508).
Special TEA MeetingsBased on the need to take action on various business issues, TEA will conduct special meetings on Tuesdays from 12-1pm at the Elliott Bay Bookstore Café Conference Room. These meetings are open to all TEA members.
Voluntary Dues Authorization CardsTEA needs financial resources during the contract bargaining process. Ever since TEA’s recognition by King County in April, the County has allowed the use of payroll deduction for union dues. Voluntary dues authorization cards have been distributed; more are available. Over 115 TEA members are now contributing via payroll deductions. Contact your TEA work group representative or any Board member for a dues authorization card.
